10 best celebrity games for Android
With multimedia being the key to success these days, a number of celebrity, TV show, music, and movie personalities have taken to the mobile platform to release games of their own. These celebrity games can vary greatly in style and game play which makes them fun to look at, if nothing else. Virtually none of them have achieved the success of Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, but they’re still worth playing for some people. Here are the best celebrity games for Android right now.
Why wouldn’t we include a game that features almost every Disney protagonist ever? Disney Crossy Road is a Disney-made off-shoot of Crossy Road. It's a lot like Frogger. You cross rivers, roads, etc without hitting obstacles. In the Disney variant, you can unlock over 100 Disney characters and most of them have their own unique soundtrack and level theming. It’s kid friendly, simple to play, free to download, and a good way to waste a few minutes. It's also vastly better than most celebrity games that feature Disney characters.
Injustice 1 and 2 are entertaining tap fighter games. They feature a variety of superheroes from the DC Comics universe along with cameo appearances from many other popular characters. Hey, superheroes are celebrities these days, right? In any case, the game has a bunch of playable characters, simple controls, and a bunch of stuff to do. It's not as in-depth as a classic arcade fighter. However, it's fun enough to kill a few minutes and not feel bad doing it. Both games are freemium and that's easily the worst thing about them. Just don't expect too much here. It is a very simple game with some really nice graphics.
Just Skate is an arcade platformer with skateboard mechanics. It also features Justin Bieber. We know, that's a weird mixture of culture. However, the game is actually not half bad. It's a 2D side scroller with Bieber on a skateboard. You collect coins, avoid obstacles, and complete levels. That's basically it for this one. There are some weekly contests and such, but it's otherwise a very simple game featuring one of the world's most popular singers.
Nonstop Chuck Norris is a spin-off of the popular game Nonstop Knight. You play as Chuck Norris. Your goal is to beat up a bunch of bad guys. You'll have special moves to choose from along with equipment upgrades, stat boosts, and more. The objective is to go as long as possible before you're defeated. The mechanics are simple. Chuck Norris moves around on his own. That means you just have to focus on fighting. It's a freemium game like most celebrity games, but it's a great little time waster.
Nyjah Huston: #SkateLife is one of the newer celebrity games. This one features Nyjah Huston, pro skateboarder. This game has excellent graphics and simple controls. However, it lacks the kind of depth we would normally like in a skateboard game. Players perform tricks, collect cards that unlock other tricks, and engage in community competitions among other things. It's a little straightforward. There isn't a ton of room for improvisation or stuff like that. It's a decent time killer for skating fans.
Office Space: Idle Profits is a bit of fan service for fans of the movie. It features a variety of scenes and references from the movie. It's an idle game. That means it basically plays itself. You can make it go faster by tapping frequently on the screen. Additionally, there are rare items to win, hundreds of upgrades and achievements, and more. It's a freemium game, although buying stuff doesn't really matter in this one. The ads are also a little bit annoying. Otherwise, it's a fun little time waster.
Pocket Mortys is a game that features characters from the cult hit show Rick and Morty. It plays like a Pokemon game. You play as Rick. Your job is to collect and battle various Mortys against other Ricks. There are 70 different Mortys to collect and a full story to play through that is rife with Rick and Morty’s unique, dark humor. It’s not a terribly long game. However, updates have helped add to the game's longevity. It's fun and it's definitely different from most celebrity games.
The Simpsons: Tapped Out is one of the first really big and popular celebrity games. The premise is that Homer finally blows up Springfield. Your job is to rebuild it from scratch. It features tons of references to the show and you can even interact in ways consistent with the series (making Apu work long shifts, for instance). There is a metric ton of content to devour. It's large enough to keep one busy for months at least.
Telltale Games is a developer on Google Play. The specialize in adventure-puzzle games features some of the public's favorite TV shows. Their collection includes Game of Thrones, Batman, Guardians of the Galaxy, and several The Walking Dead games. Each one is an episodic adventure. Getting the game gives you the first episode. You then buy the rest as in-app purchases. They're generally pretty good, have no other in-app purchases (aside from the episode expansions), and they come with decent graphics and voice acting. They're a bit expensive, but totally worth it.
WWE Immortals is one of several celebrity games to feature WWE wrestlers. You’ll get to play as your favorites, whether they’re classics or modern superstars including Triple H, John Cena, The Undertacker, The Rock, Stone Cold, and more. It’s a three-on-three combat style so there’s no actual wrestling. It was initially disappointing, However, it includes online multiplayer, level up mechanics, cameos from Mortal Kombat, and more. It could have been a much better game, but it’s not terrible. There are a few other freemium WWE games that aren't too bad also.
