Booster Raiders

Booster Raiders is a new arcade game from Halfbrick Studios, developers of Fruit Ninja, Dan the Man, and Jetpack Joyride. It's an arcade racing game of sorts. You race against other characters from previous Halfbrick Studios games. There are three game modes, including a regular race mode, a lap mode, and a UFO mode that isn't really racing. We have no reason to believe that it won't be as popular as Halfbrick's other games. It's fun and it's simple to play. It's a beta release right now. Thus, there may be bugs and it may not be available in all regions. However, it played fine in our testing.

Brave Frontier: The Last Summoner

Price: Freemium

Brave Frontier: The Last Summoner is the latest game from Gumi. They did Final Fantasy Brave Exvius as well as the original Brave Frontier game. This is another gacha-style mobile RPG from the developer. That means it's a freemium game and you collect a bunch of characters. However, this one has teams of up to 50 combatants and that makes it larger than most other games in this genre. It also boasts hundreds of characters, a long story line, and plenty of gear to collect. The mechanics are standard fair for mobile RPGs with its own little twists. In any case, this is a fun game for fans of the genre, but the freemium elements may chase away serious RPG fans.

Chaos Reborn: Adventures

Price: $9.99
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Chaos Reborn: Adventures is a new tactical strategy game. This game plays a lot like X-COM and that's because it's by the same people. This one has a fantasy setting instead of a modern one. The game features turn-by-turn combat on a checkerboard style map. In addition, there's a single player campaign, a competitive multiplayer mode, decent graphics, good controls, and plenty of depth. This is not another freemium game, that's for sure. It is a little expensive, though. Chaos Reborn: Adventures goes for $9.99 as a single purchase with no in-app purchases or advertisements. There's no demo, but the trailer is linked below if you want to see it first.

Cube Escape: Paradox

Price: Free / $1.99
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Cube Escape: Paradox is the latest game in the popular puzzle game franchise. This one has escape game, hidden object, puzzle, and adventure elements. It very much holds true to the franchise's style. In addition, players get a decent story line complete with voice-overs. It's not a difficult game by any stretch but we found it entertaining. The soundtrack is also quite good. There are two chapters to this game. The first one is entirely free and the second costs $1.99 as an in-app purchase. That makes it a fairly inexpensive puzzle game as well. We couldn't find anything wrong with it during our testing and most Google Play reviews agree that it plays well.

Defend the Cake

Price: $4.99
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Defend the Cake is a new tower defense game by former Blizzard and Riot developers. It's a standard enough tower defense experience. You guard a path and prevent bugs from reaching the cake. There are some fun twists, though. For instance, you define the path that the bugs travel. That gives you a slight advantage to your strategy. Additionally, the game comes with 18 levels, six towers (each with two upgrades), a leaderboard, and even a day and night cycle. It's not the most innovative tower defense game. However, those looking for a simple experience within the genre need to look no further. This one is $4.99 with no additional in-app purchases or ads.

Hungry Dragon

Hungry Dragon is an action-arcade game with a violent premise. You fly around as a dragon and eat people. It's a riff on the popular Hungry Shark game that has basically the same mechanics. You travel forward in a 2D space and eat people. The game includes simple mechanics, unlockable dragons, various power-ups, and even some adventuring elements. It's not an overly complex or deep game. However, it's admittedly fun burning people to a crisp and eating them. It's a good time killer if nothing else. It's also a freemium game in case that matters to you.

Motorsport Manager Mobile 3

Price: $3.99 with in-app purchases
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Motorsport Manager Mobile 3 is a mouthful, but it's also a decent game. It's a simulation game with racing elements. You build a racing team, hire personnel, formulate strategies, and more. It's actually a fairly deep simulation experience. You have to account for stuff like weather changes and you plan every pit stop. The game also features a variety of events and other challenges. The base game goes for $3.99. This one has additional in-app purchases. It's a bit of a risky monetization strategy. Most people don't seem to mind, though. This is an excellent racing sim.

Mowy Lawn

Price: Free / Up to $5.49
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY
Mowy Lawn is another new arcade game. This one is really simple. You mow all of the patches of long grass. Players avoid falling off of the edge and other obstacles. The game features a bunch of levels, challenge modes like the right-turn-only mechanic, various mowers to unlock, and various upgrades to your mower, It's a bit of a twitch game. You need fast reflexes and a little strategy to get it done here. It's a fun little time waster. We don't recommend this game for people wanting a deeper experience. It's also kid friendly if that counts for anything.

New Star Manager

New Star Manager is a soccer simulation game. You basically manage the fate of New Star FC, a fictional soccer club. You control things like the facilities, players, off-the-field drama, and more. The game also lets you play actual soccer and we liked that a lot. The mechanics are fairly simple and the graphics aren't as good as FIFA. However, we'd argue that it's a different kind of fun. The simulation aspect is much more prevalent than the sport aspect itself. However, the two work together well. This one is a freemium title and that shouldn't shock anybody.

Star Trek Trexels II

Price: Freemium

Star Trek Trexels II is the sequel to the somewhat popular retro series. It's a mobile adventure game with some gacha mechanics. You can collect various characters from the Star Trek universe and go adventuring. The game includes turn-by-turn strategy combat, online multiplayer, charming 8-bit pixel art, and more. Admittedly, the game play felt a little slow to us, but most turn-based strategy games do. There are also some city building elements as well. It has the occasional bug, but it is a newer title so it's to be expected. This is an above average Star Trek game.
