Audio-Technica’s famed studio headphones cut the cord
- The ATH-M50xBT supports aptX and AAC codecs while operating via Bluetooth 5.0.
- Listeners are afforded 40 hours of constant playback.
- The Bluetooth headphones are currently available for $199.
Audio-Technica throws its hat into the wireless audio ring with the ATH-M50xBT, which operates via Bluetooth 5.0. “The ATH-M50xBT offers the same sonic signature that has made the ATH-M50x an audio industry standard,” says Bob Peet, Audio-Technica U.S. Marketing Manager.
While Bluetooth doesn’t stack up to wired audio quality, the package does include a 1.2-meter cable with an integrated mic and remote for studio needs. When out and about, users can rely on aptX and AAC codecs to facilitate reliable streaming. What’s more, the over-ear design helps to eliminate background noise by insulating listeners from their environments, allowing them to take advantage of the large 45mm dynamic drivers.
An impressive 40-hour playback time is afforded by the battery, which is great for mobile users guilty of leaving their array of charging cables at home. Unfortunately, though, that longevity comes at a price and requires a patient seven hours to complete a charge cycle via micro-USB, not USB-C.
The Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT is available now for $199.
