LG V40 ThinQ: Where to buy, when, and for how much
Today, LG officially announced the V40 ThinQ. The phone is the latest flagship to fall under LG’s revised mobile strategy that looks to turn around the company’s fortunes.
The V40 ThinQ is the direct sequel to last year’s V30, though it also succeeds the V35 ThinQ that launched in June and the V30S ThinQ that launched in May. Even though the design mostly remains the same compared to the V30, the V40 ThinQ packs in five camera sensors, a 32-bit DAC, and a slew of flagship internals. The phone sadly runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, with LG not sharing a timeline of when we can expect Android Pie.
If you want a flagship-level smartphone with the audio chops to match, the V40 ThinQ should at least be on your list.
LG V40 ThinQ release date
LG V40 ThinQ pre-orders are carrier-dependent, so we will relay any additional information as soon as we get it. Regardless of the pre-order schedule, the phone will be widely available starting Thursday, October 18.
LG V40 ThinQ price and availability
Depending on where you get it, the V40 ThinQ goes for between $900 and $980.
U.S. Cellular is the cheapest destination, with the phone going for $900. T-Mobile will sell the phone for $920, while Sprint will have the V40 ThinQ available for $960. Finally, Verizon’s V40 ThinQ will go for the hefty sum of $980.
AT&T has not yet announced pricing details, but expect the price to fall in line with the competition. Given LG’s track record, you can also expect an unlocked version to eventually become available.
Carriers will offer monthly payment options to make the big price easier to manage, but there is no getting around the fact that the V40 ThinQ is an expensive smartphone.
