It is not very difficult to find wireless chargers that cost less than a Benjamin. Just do a quick search on Amazon and let the results speak for themselves. It is harder to see that from a company like Samsung, which usually offers wireless chargers for over $20. That is set to change very soon, reported The Economic Times.
According to a Samsung official cited in the report, the company will soon bring wireless charging to its affordable smartphones. Seeing how Samsung continues to push the standard in its flagship smartphones, it is good to see wireless charging finally make its way to more affordable offerings. The company likely hopes that doing so will expand the wireless charging market even more and help it gain a larger foothold.
To help sell the idea of wireless charging in its affordable smartphones, Samsung also reportedly plans to sell a new affordable wireless charger. Expected to cost 20,000 won (~$20), the wireless charger might feature the same capacity as Samsung’s existing fast wireless chargers.
That means, like its more expensive offerings, Samsung’s affordable wireless charger might have a 10W output. Whether it has the same aesthetics is anyone’s guess at this point, though do not expect any fancy miracles from a $20 charging pad.
The report did not say when Samsung will announce the $20 wireless charger. We could see it unveiled alongside an upcoming Galaxy A or Galaxy J smartphone, since Samsung tends to use hardware launches to also launch new accessories.
