Uh-oh: JBL Link Bar orders delayed, still no official product page
- JBL announced the JBL Link Bar in May and started pre-orders in August.
- However, pre-order fulfillment is apparently going to be delayed, possibly until 2019.
- Also, there is still no product page for the Link Bar at JBL’s official site.
At Google I/O 2018, JBL launched the JBL Link Bar: a powerful sound bar with Google Assistant, a Chromecast, and Android TV built right in. We had a great time with our hands-on review of the device, and pre-orders opened in August.
However, it appears there’s a problem with the JBL Link Bar, as people who pre-ordered the device are getting notifications stating that the delivery will be delayed, possibly until 2019.
The Link Bar was supposed to ship on October 16.
Twitter user Nate Harris posted a screenshot of a notification he received from B&H Photo regarding his JBL Link Bar preorder:

The notification makes it clear that this is the result of some sort of product-wide delay and not just a simple stocking issue.
Curiously, the JBL Link Bar is also missing from the official JBL website. A search for “Link Bar” at JBL.com brings up the family of JBL smart speakers, but no Link Bar.
Is it possible JBL is backing down on the launch of the Link Bar? If so, that would be incredibly disappointing, as the JBL Link Bar is probably one of the more exciting smart home products to launch in 2018.
