Deal: Google Pixel 2, 2 XL refurbished starting at mouth-watering $359.99 on Amazon

Amazon has rolled out some fresh deals on refurbished Pixel 2 smartphones in its latest ‘Deals of the Day’ offers. The models include the 64GB and 128 GB Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL in black or white.

The handsets are available for the next twenty or so hours, and they’re a steal if you’re looking for a phone upgrade. Before I go into why, here’s the full list of phones with their prices:

It’s sometimes easy to write-off last-gen smartphones as old, but the Pixel 2 can go toe-to-toe with 2018 flagships in some key areas. For one, it’s already running Android Pie (unlike 99 percent of other Androids) and will receive major OS updates until October 2020. This means it should at least get next year’s Android Q but possibly 2020’s Android R, too. Other 2018 flagships launching with Oreo will likely end their life on the Android Q update.

What’s more, the Pixel 2 has great camera hardware and software — including the outstanding Night Sight mode introduced with the Pixel 3. The phone’s Snapdragon 835 chipset may mean its a step behind the modern crowd in processing efficiency, but it’s competing with the best of them in photography.

Editor's Pick

You may be put off by the “refurbished” moniker, but I generally prefer devices that are a little cheaper and have been looked over by somebody rather than straight off the production line. Amazon’s refurbished policy states products are “professionally inspected and tested by an Amazon qualified supplier. Box and accessories may be generic.” Sounds okay to me!

Critically, the $359.99 starting price is extremely reasonable for a major flagship release these days, and it’s especially good for such a well-liked (and still in many ways current) smartphone. The deal will be over tomorrow, so if you’re keen, hit the links above soon.
