Here’s a closer look at the Honor View 20’s display hole camera sensor

  • Honor has offered a brief look at its upcoming View 20 at an event in Hong Kong.
  • The smartphone features a front-facing camera cutout at the top of the device, but no notch.

We’re in Hong Kong to check out Honor’s new View 20 smartphone, and even though we haven’t had an opportunity to see the phone without a protective case, we did get a glimpse at its new “all-view” display hole camera sensor.

The hole is just .45mm wide and resides in the top left side of the upcoming phone’s display. Honor is testing this display tech as well as the new “slide” method in their Magic 2 smartphone, to see which trend catches on over the next year or so.

The display hole camera is Android manufacturers’ latest attempt to increase screen real estate as they veer away from the notch. Honor suggested other manufacturers would have larger holes in their smartphones of the future.

We’ll see more of the phone over the next couple of days, but for now, this was our only real-world look at the device.

What do you think about the cutout in the front? Do you prefer this to a slider-style phone?
