Google Maps now warning some drivers about speed traps

Google Maps is the most popular app for getting driving directions from one place to another. However, sometimes there will be obstacles on your journey that you won’t know about until you stumble upon them.

It looks like one of those obstacles — speed traps — is going to start popping up in your navigation window soon, according to Android Police.

Although AP wasn’t able to confirm this for themselves (and neither were we), an Android user did supply screenshots of the new feature. Check them out below:

This new feature aligns with earlier reports that some of Waze’s features (which Google also owns) will be making their way to Google Maps, most notably speed trap and construction alerts.

Since we can’t confirm this for ourselves, we can only assume that Google is slowly rolling out the feature to users in either a test run or in a full slow rollout. We won’t know until a little more time passes.

Either way, it’s a safe bet that all Google Maps users will see this feature at some point soon.
