Rumored price pits Galaxy M against the Redmi Note 6 Pro, but will that be enough?
As Samsung gears up to launch the new M series of budget smartphones to take on Xiaomi and Asus, rumors indicating prospective price points have surfaced.
Samsung recently announced it will launch a new range of phones on January 28. Tipped to be called the Galaxy M10 and M20, the two phones are targeting a younger, millennial audience. As such, they’ll have features like a waterdrop notch, large batteries, as well as quick charge capabilities.
According to India Today, the phones will be priced at rupees 8,990 and rupees 12,990 for the M10 and M20, respectively. This corroborates previous reports that the range will start at under rupees 10,000 to counter devices like Xiaomi’s Redmi 6 and the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2. 91Mobiles too backs up the claim though IANS suggests that the phones might be priced just a bit higher. We believe these price points might be referring to different storage variants.
Official images of the phone posted by Samsung earlier this week gave us a sneak peek at the design. The Galaxy M10 was recently certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance giving us a good look at the specifications. The phone is expected to be powered by an Exynos 7870 chip clocked at 1.59GHz and will have 3GB RAM as well as 16 or 32GB of storage depending on the SKU. The screen size is purported to be 6.2 inches, making it all the more attractive to younger audiences. Battery life across the range is believed to go from 3,500mAh all the way to 5,000mAh.
