Finding your way gets a little easier

Ever use Google Maps to walk somewhere and realize after a block or two that you’ve walked the wrong way? Starting your walk in the right direction is definitely a problem. And Google wants to use AR to help.
We featured the news that Google Maps is starting to roll-out AR capabilities to some Google Local Guides users, but Android Authority’s own Abhishek wrote it up as well, so we’ll keep it short here.

Here’s everything else happening:
1. OnePlus 7: Here’s what it needs to take on the best (AA). (I don’t agree on the IP rating part, but that might just be me. That certification adds cost.)
2. We asked, you told us: Most of you don’t use third-party email apps (AA).
3. Also, I wrote up a bunch of Airbnb tips for finding better stays (Android Authority). Nothing better than finding a great stay, that’s for sure.
4. A Google-sibling company is working on shoes that will know if you are getting fat (CNBC).
5. Spotify’s podcast aggregation play (Stratechery). Highly valuable reading if you’re interested at all – it appears Spotify may quietly capture a huge percentage of the podcast industry, and drive much bigger revenue from a Netflix-style offering.
6. “The case for transmissible Alzheimer’s grows” (Scientific American). Genuinely a little frightening. Also consider this: neurosurgeons have a higher rate of Alzheimer’s than the general population.
7. Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s. Marvel released an era-appropriate website to go with it, and it’s glorious (marvel.com/captainmarvel).
8. Amazon has a massive sandbox MMO coming soon, called ‘New World’ (Polygon). Set in the 17th century, it’s a combination survival game, builder, and social sim. Will it work?
9. A new Stranger Things tie-in novel will explore the origins of Chief Hopper (The Verge). It will track Hopper during his time “as a homicide detective in New York City, 1977.”
10. The bad news on human nature, in 10 findings from psychology (Aeon.co).
