Galaxy Apps is being renamed to Galaxy Store ahead of S10 unveiling

Ahead of Samsung’s Unpacked event for the Galaxy S10 phones, a Reddit user noted that Galaxy Apps is being renamed to Galaxy Store.

Alongside the new name is the updated One UI aesthetic. As with other One UI-ified Samsung apps’ headers, the Galaxy Store’s header takes up almost half the screen real estate. That might seem like a waste of space, but you can get to more of the app with one hand.

Based on the screenshot, the top navigation menu of Galaxy Apps has been moved to the bottom in the Galaxy Store. The Galaxy Store also refreshes the navigation menu options: Home, Games, My Galaxy, and Watch. Before, the navigation menu comprised of Trending, Games, Exclusives, Top, and Gear.

Lastly, it looks like Samsung slightly redesigned the app icon. The wire aesthetic and bright colors from before has been replaced with thicker lines and darker hues. It’s a subtler difference, but one that falls in line with the other icons in One UI.

As nice as the Galaxy Store looks, a Reddit user noted that the updated app doesn’t comply with the system-wide night mode that’s found in One UI. That would be a bummer if true, though that could change with a future update.

The renamed Galaxy Store is rolling out now as a mandatory update. Be on the lookout for version 4.5.01.7, which weighs a little over 20MB.
