Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus update hub: Android 9 Pie rolling out to carrier variants

It will be regularly updated with the latest Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus update information, but note that we won’t be covering general security patches in our list.

Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus Android update
The Galaxy S9 series was released in February 2018 and became the first Samsung flagships to run Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus were also the first Samsung devices to get the beta version of the One UI overlay, which is based on Android 9 Pie. You can check out our hands-on post to learn more about One UI and what you can expect.
The good news is that the beta evolved into a stable version — Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T variants officially picked up the update, along with Xfinity Mobile and U.S. Cellular. The bad news is that, despite supporting Project Treble, the devices received the update much later than we wanted it to.
We’re also still waiting on the T-Mobile and unlocked versions to get their Android 9 Pie updates. It also seems likely that the S9 series will eventually be updated to Android Q, but we’ll no doubt have to wait until 2019 to hear more on that front.

- June 21, 2018: Verizon rolls out the June security update for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.

- January 31, 2019: AT&T rolls out Android 9 Pie with One UI and the January security update for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.
T-Mobile Galaxy S9 (SM-G960UZ*ATMB) and Galaxy S9 Plus (SM-G965UZ*ATMB) update:
- March 14, 2018: T-Mobile rolls out Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus update, improves camera and face unlock stability.
- June 22, 2018: T-Mobile rolls out a Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus update, which includes the June 2018 Android security patch, various bug fixes, and system improvements.
- July 9, 2018: T-Mobile rolls out a Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus update, which includes RTT updates, enhancements to DIGITS, various bug fixes, and system improvements.

- June 25, 2018: Samsung rolls out an update with the June 2018 Android security patch, along with various bug fixes and system improvements.
International Galaxy S9 (SM-G960F) and Galaxy S9 Plus (SM-G965F) update:
- June 6, 2018: Samsung adds support for dual voice over LTE (VoLTE) and voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) in India.
- July 18, 2018: Samsung rolls out an update with the July 2018 Android security patch, along with stability improvements for AR Emoji and Super Slow-Mo.
- December 24, 2018: Samsung rolls out Android 9 Pie with One UI.
